How to Register for the dMAT: Process & Test Centers in India

Registration, payment and certificate issuance for the dMAT are handled entirely by g.a.s.t. — APS India is not involved in any part of the test-booking process, only in requiring the resulting certificate as part of your documentation. Registration is fixed to the 2026 cycle dates; there's no on-demand testing, so check those dates before you start.

The registration steps

1. Go to the g.a.s.t. portal linked from d-mat.de and create a participant profile.
2. Book a seat at your chosen test center, for the General Academic Module — the module required for APS purposes in India.
3. Use the exact name spelling shown on your passport. You'll present the same ID document on exam day, and a mismatch causes problems you don't want to discover that morning.
4. Pay the exam fee to confirm your booking — see the exam fee page for the amount and what happens if you later need to deregister.
5. Keep your contact details current in the participant portal up to the registration deadline. You can update these yourself; changing your legal name after registering generally requires g.a.s.t.'s direct agreement, which is why step 3 matters.

Why acting early matters more than it might seem

Seats are allocated first-come, first-served, and popular centers — historically the major metros — have filled up before the registration deadline in past cycles. Unlike a typical entrance exam where a full center just means a longer queue, here a full center can mean no seat at all for that cycle, pushing you into the next one. If your target city is Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai or another major metro, register as soon as the window opens rather than waiting until closer to the deadline.

Special arrangements take longer to book

If you have a documented disability or condition that requires special exam arrangements, g.a.s.t. requires you to register at least ten weeks before the exam date so accommodations can be arranged — considerably earlier than the general registration deadline. Applicants who need this shouldn't wait to confirm eligibility first; start the accommodation request in parallel.

Test centers

For the 2026 India cycle, dMAT test centers are located in: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kolkata, Mananthavady, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Pune. Final center availability is confirmed at the time of registration.
